Accotink Academy By The Sea

Parent-Teacher Organization


The Accotink Academy Parent-Teacher Organization was established in 2008 to successfully incorporate our wonderful parent base into our school and work together to achieve common goals in order to make this the most successful school possible. Our inaugural year was highly successful and we managed to raise enough funds to add new playground equipment, continue our school-wide recycling program, and add over 400 new and donated volumes to our library. 

This year brings exciting new programs such as our Mascot contest, our first Accotink Academy Yearbook, a Parent/Son event, our Buddy Class Olympics and much, much more!

With our new co-presidents Anne Marie Moquin and Mary Kay Rodgers, we have created the following goals and mission statement:

The Accotink Academy By The Sea Parent-Teacher Organization will

  • ENRICH the school experience  for teachers, students and their families by providing additional resources, activities and events.

  • RALLY together to create a strong, comfortable community and support network.

  • PROMOTE the growth and success of the Accotink Preschool and Elementary programs.

  • STRENGTHEN communication between Accotink and its families.

In order to achieve these goals, the following committees and events have been created:

  • Communication/Volunteers/Public Relations: Anne Marie Moquin, Krissy Impey, co-chairs
  • Community Service: Nicole and Harrison Zauke, chairs
  • Fundraising/Marketing: Mary Kay Rodgers, Anne Marie Moquin, co-chairs
  • Library: Dawn Kelley, chair
  • Recycling: Avita Sandoval-Beatty, chair
  • Teacher Appreciation/Support: Laura Bouchy, chair
  • Yearbook: Suzanne Morris, chair

EVENTS

  • Mascot Contest ( December): Vanessa Ellis, Deanna Gammon, co-chairs
  • Fall Festival and Parade (October): Deanna Gammon, Mary Kay Rodgers, co-chairs
  • Holiday Scholastic Book Fair and Book Drive (December): Lendy Callihan, chair
  • Parent/Son Event (TBD): Krissy Impey, Elizabeth Paul, co-chairs
  • Sweetheart Dance (Daddy-Daughter Dance, February): Krissy Impey, chair
  • Buddy Class Olympics/ Field Day (March) : Alison Vitti, chair

If you would like to be part of this great organization and join a committee, please stop in the front office and fill out a PTO membership form.  All Parent Volunteers must be background checked in order to participate in any school activities.  We look forward to another great year at Accotink, and thank you in advance for your time and generosity!
